Default ACME Pawn on Platte- Colorado Springs

I went in just to look around the other day with the wife...Just scoping out prices and what not...I run across Pmags for 80 dollars a pop (used btw) I kind of stood there talking to my wife when a sales woman approached me and asked if I needed any help...I told her I was just looking. I then asked her if there was anything special about the PMAGs that would warrant the store to sell them at 80 dollars a piece....(this was sarcasm) she proceeded to go and ask the "gun guy" if there was anything special about them....she came back and said that that was the going rate for that type in the area....I asked if she was familiar with magpul and the deal that they were running for Coloradans. She looked at me with this blank look when I told her you could buy 10 for 15 dollars a piece and get them shipped at a flat rate of 5 dollars. I told her that I wasn't interested in buying any of them and the wife and I proceeded to leave. As I was walking out I asked the "gun guy" if he had hear about the deal. He said yes but they were only selling 15 round mags and you still had to wait a month to get them...(Not trying to offend anyone but the guy has the craziest lazy eye ever so I really couldn't decided which eye to look him in while I was talking to him....he had the "one eye is fishing and the other one is digging for worms" type....I began to tell him that I had spoke with magpul earlier that day and that obviously he was mistaken....He proceeded to talk condescending to me until I just walked out...he was still talking while I was walking out the double doors....Pretty insane if you ask me....It's the ACME pawn across from Sportsman's Warehouse in Colorado Springs....The last thing I heard out of his mouth while I was walking out was that people were selling them 100 dollars a piece at the gun shows....This guy is a creep and as far as I'm concerned I will never enter their store again. I think for the simple fact that I get angry just thinking about this little exchange I had with this freak and I'm not sure if I would be able to hold my tongue as well this time if something idiotic came out of his mouth again.....

Holy surprise, Batman.... a pawn store that tries to take unfair advantage? Lol. I've trolled a lot of pawn shops over the years looking for guns, and the only owner I've ever got a good vibe off of was Frank M at "Lets Make A Deal". He didn't gouge on the transfer fees, he knew his guns, and he was a solid Christian guy.

My favorite pawnshop story was when a young kid came up to where I was handling a Bersa .380, and proceeded to regale me with stories of how he'd owned one before.

I make it a point not to argue with idiots. It's a waste of time that you'll never get back, ever.

Yeah, majority of pawn shop owners are pond scum at best. I have walked into very few pawn shops, and the few I did venture into I was not talked to with respect, nor treated like a paying customer and witnessed rediculous price tags.

Remind him of your conversation when you take your mags from Magpul in and tell him should give you 80 each cuz they are new in the wrapper.

Yeah that shop is worthless. If you go west on Platte a few blocks on the south side of the street is Big Jim's. the guy who runs it most of the time is a retired Army vet. He is courteous to all even the dumbasses, and knows his stuff. They run a little high on their price tags, but will haggle with you. You come in with cash and it has been sitting a while, they will play Let's Make a Deal with you. I have bought quite a few guns there over the years, that were later traded or lost on that damned boat.

If $80-100 is the going rate for Pmags I wonder how much they are buying them for, $40-50? Might be worth selling them a few, lol. I tried to buy a truck that had been sitting there for a few months and they would not get the keys and start it for me. No wonder none of the vehicles for sale ever move. I wanted to look at a TRP 1911 they had and they wouldn't let me even see it without seeing my ID, they said that was the states policy. Thats fine if I was buying it, just wanted to look at it, the price was more than new if I remember right. I told them to piss of and have never been back. Pawn shops are a joke, especially that one.

I told my wife the same thing. It blows my mind that people can even charge prices like that...I mean there is a freedom factor yes...but isn't it illegal to price gouge with gas and other commodities...why not introduce legislation making it illegal to gouge ammo prices. Hell...not just ammo...anything pertaining to firearms period...It seems to me with homeland security buying all this ammo and all the "Personal Defense Weapons" they are purposely driving up the market prices...trying to make it harder for average people to buy firearms and ammo while they lobby their butts off on the hill and try to get legislation passed to ban it all....meh...i think i should hang up my tin foil hat before I get labeled a quack.... lol
