Last time I went there the cashier freaked on me.

I had my MAK-90 and 75 round drums (as well as a number of other guns). I set them down on the counter and he loudly asked "What's that!?!" I look behind me as he obviously can't be speaking to me. As I am trying to figure out what he is referring to he again announces to the entire store "WHAT'S THAT!?!". I look to him to see what he is talking about to find him pointing at my equipment. I smile at him (while thinking to myself that he can't have an issue with my firearms as this is a shooting range) and state that it is a MAK-90. He says "NO, THAT!" while pointing at the drum. I say "a 75 round drum". He then states that they arn't allowed. That nothing with more than 5 rounds is allowed and that the drums have to be taken back to the car. If I hadn't been there to shoot with friends and they were already inside I would have packed up and left there and then.

You have rules, great. But you don't have to announce it to the store full of people like I am a terrorist or something.

This was a number of years ago and I won't be back.

When was that? Ive seen guys with drums and hi-cap mags all the time when I was going there...the best cashier is the older gentleman (cant remember his name or find his card) but he works at Gander Mountain when he wasnt at the range...

I went there on the 19th and it was $8 to get in the park and $13 to shoot.

self righteous "gun owners" are the largest threat to our rights as a whole. They're basically liberals with guns.

I don't know about 75rd drums but I use 30rd AR mags there all the time without any comments. The current owner has been there about 4 or 5 years and seems pretty open to most gear but does have a 1 second rule between rds.

I realized that I made a mistake now...I had prices backwards...thought it was $13 to enter the park and $8 to get into the range...my bad!

Seems like the price to get in now is $13 for an adult! Thats quite a hike from the $7 last time I was there...

Are there any remotely affordable rifle ranges around here anymore? Or am I just gonna have to drive out past E-470 and keep my muzzle pointed

IMHO, YMMV etc...

You gotta remember they're dealing with public range folk there... The kind that leave the chamber loaded all after hunting season and don't know it til they go to the range to sight in.. The kind that get their first firearm for christmas. You have to play to the lowest common denominator.

Having said that I do find the overly safe attitude annoying, but I guess it's better than someone getting shot. Stu seems to run the range pretty well. I can say the recent owners and staff are allot better than the old. Prices are crap though. Then again they are in business to make money. And I'm sure the insurance is pretty high after that girl went in, rented a pistol and shot her self in the head a few years back. We used to go once a week to shoot trap and if it weren't for the park pass it was 7 to enter the park, 6 per round, or 13 for the rifle and pistol bays. 4 trips there and I have my private range dues covered.
