So tomorrow at 10 am I will be belt testing for my blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've been training for almost 2 years at least three times a week for my first belt promotion. The one thing I appreciate about Jiu jitsu is that when you earn a stripe or a belt, you deserve it. My academy is not a belt factory meant to keep people's morale and egos p to keep people in membership. I don't need or want that. In the two years I've been training I have seen people come and go, stat after me a far surpass me in rank. Which is a okay, it's a personal journey and I strive to get better every day.
So at 10 am i will be tested on certain defense, attacks, escapes, throws etc. I then will be put into a "shark tank" which is 20 minutes, broken into 2 minute increments(no breaks) where I literally get the shit kicked outta me. People much better than me will be trying to choke me unconscious, break my arms, tear my rotator cuff, etc etc etc. then if I pass these two tests I will earn my blue belt. I hope to update this thread tomorrow with a picture of me receiving my belt, not a cast.
Update: I live to fight another day. Here's some pictures of me getting thrown and getting my ass whipped by some tough dudes.
I'm getting my belt here. Professor Matt "the malignant" Simms giving my belt. 3rd degree black belt master maurico zingano to his right.
This is a picture with my best friend and pretty much brother after ceremonies. I'm on the right.
This is me with my Jiu jitsu mentor and favorite instructor professor Hans Thompson. He's calling me a big goofy bastard during the pic.
