Default Senate committees to limit testimony to 90 minutes per side

Dispensing with the illusion of listening...

Scheduled to hearseven gun bills Monday, and expecting hundreds of people to show up, the Democratic-controlled Senate has decided to limit testimony to 90 minutes per side for each measure.
Sen. Ted Harvey, R-Highlands Ranch, wasn't happy to hear about the time restriction, noting that it's the third time rules have been altered for the hearings.
"I'm frustrated in the way that they have changed the rules three times in three days," he said. "I understand this is going to be rather complicated, but they've had months to figure out how to make it work."
The committee hearings to review the bills will start at 10:30 a.m., earlier than the initially planned 1:30 p.m. start time.

is that a train I hear? yep we're being railroaded.
So 90min/side = 30 people/side. Going to be any trading to see who those 30 are?
With guaranteed equal time it doesnt matter if there is a 20-1 opposition, it'll seem like there is widespread support. And of course support will go last.

moving up the time meant I could not attend. Absolutely have to be at work in the morning Mon.

it'll be 30 people per bill per side, not 30 people total.

Go ahead & show up anyway if you've already made the plans. maybe you'll be one of them.

Their minds are made up already, and I doubt very much if they can be persuaded to change their minds by anything anyone has to say . . . I doubt if they'll even be paying attention. Take note of who nods off and who fiddles on their phone the whole time.

I think it should be assumed that it will pass committee. That's not the point, you're not going to derail it there. You're giving the Senators that flipped over backing, and the Republicans that are going to fight for you ammo, you are making an organized protest. Being counted and heard sets the tone for the floor, where the real fight is.

Do not be discouraged when this passes committee. This just sets the stage and the tone.
