I sincerely hope that these last few months have woken some of us up. I know I'm certainly more interested in local politics than before.
The question is (not personally here towards you -- just in general) -- will it last to the midterms. Very few people vote in midterms. And the public tends to have a very short memory.

These laws are going to be very very difficult to overturn. Even if it was successful, expect to live with them for 5-10 years. (in other words: we have a lot of work ahead of us)

My point there isn't to be negative. It's to be realistic and a bit motivational. I get a feeling that a lot of people are gonna just throw their hands up when the final votes come down... but even then it doesn't mean it's over; just a lot harder.

Remember 1994. Those were midterm elections, and perhaps there wasn't a big turn out, but those who turned out overwhelmingly voted republican. We need a republican governor to win next year, and majorities in both houses. After all of this, any gun owner who still votes for a liberal in 2014 should be committed to a psych ward. Every gun owner has a responsibility to themselves, their family, this state, and this country, to vote for whoever is against gun control.

    I concur...

I'm sorry, could you refresh my memory about what awesome things those Republicans did with that majority? Was the AWB overturned? Did they act decisively and immediately to overturn that garbage legislation?

You didn't read everything I said. A new governor, as well as majorities, or super majorities in both houses. While the republicans took over congress at the end of 1994, we still had Slick Willy in office. Any bill that would have thrown out the '94 Crime bill would have been met with a veto. They didn't have enough to secure that yet. We kick the pooper out of office and take over the legislature, we're dealing with a different game, completely, as long as the elected officials remember who got them there.

And Slick Willy was more of a pragmatist and less of an idealist. He was willing to compromise and give some in order to provide himself a legacy.

The current Democrats are not interested in true compromise. Their idea of compromise is for the opponents to concede to the Democrats demands.

I'm not getting it. Why is there such a large amount of animosity towards the OP? He is asking questions as to the political environment here due to the gun bills and other things. Why so mean to him?

Maybe you need to read all the threads where we are all trying to call and email our senators, the several of us who hae gone down to the caption to testify, the start of recall elections, and just the general over attitude that we are all very fucking pissed off. How about you send some of your $$$ to any legislator going against any of the dems up for reelection in the next election cycle. How about sending some emails stating you will refuse to come to a state that prevents you from self defense and businesses and tax revenue will suffer tremendously.
How about you help us out instead of now reading how pissed off we are and asking a question you already know the answer to.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

    Default Is the backlash mounting?

We are "allowing" hordes of illegals in. Like we get a choice. I'd love to patrol our border and stop them on my own free time, but for what? To have them let go.

    Go away troll.
