It's fleshed out much better than what you can glean from a Fox News blurb-story.

So is the TSA going to sit there with a pair of micrometers and measure every knife. This is a very, very BAD idea. Our safety is at risk, TSA work load is going to go up. There is nothing good to come out of this.

Just stick you knife in your checked luggage and be done with it.

No, they will just see if its a small knife, like a Swiss Army or Penknife and if its small folding knife then they will let ya on through.Box cutters are apparently still on the no fly list.

TSA can kiss my ass. They have a simple job to do and do it so poorly we are the laffing stock of the world. Worse is they have a serious ego and power trip going on that needs to be crushed.
Our safety is ALWAYS at risk. I fly a lot. Just got back from the West coast this time last week. I never feel safe on an airplane. I cannot have my firearm nor a knife to protect myself. If I die because of some asshat wanna be terrorist or pussy hijacker, its on the head of TSA and the goberment, because they TOOK AWAY my right to defend myself in the name of "security" which does not exist, and put me at the mercy of those who ignore the laws. There is nothing safe about being anywhere that weapons are banned. Ever.
I also never feel safe after I get off the airplane, because I cannot easily fly with my firearms, and even if I did the entire legal system in this country is completely jacked up in regards to the carrying of firearms, and want the populace unarmed. Obviously the further I am from home, the more i feel the need to be armed, and the airlines make that as hard as they possibly can.
Its seriously about time for the society at large to sac up and stop being afraid of shadows.

I totally disagree with the part in bold, the TSA is not protecting us. Not only should they allow all knives but they should allow firearms.

So to all the pro firarm on aircraft guys answer me this.

What good is your gun going to do you when you are seated in row 44 (window seat) and a terrorist and buddies with guns are sitting in row 1? He will be in the cockpit and have control of the aircraft before you can even crawl over the fat lady next to you to get out of your seat.

Also who's to say the guy next to you is as competant gun handler as you? What if he adjusts his gun and has a accidental dischage that goes right through the planes hydraulics?

FYI, I travel alot and have for the past 30 years. I'm okay not having firearms on the aircraft period.

    THIS..
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

    A knife is allowed if:

    • The blade is no longer than 2.36 inches or 6 centimeters in length
    • The blade width is no more than ½ inch at its widest point
    • The knife does not have a locking or fixed blade
    • The knife does not have a molded grip

The no locking part pretty much eliminates every single knife I would ever carry.

There's going to be a run on pocket knives.

Of many, I don't have a single knife that would be permitted. That includes a trusty old Case Trapper.

I'm fine with this. Now maybe I don't always have to check a bag in as there are certain things I don't travel without.

I'm in full agreement here. Although, it'd be nice to not have to ditch an EDC multi-tool just to board an airplane.
