    Default Macomb, Illinois, Police have 5 hour standoff with empty house.

    Essentially someone called 911 and said their was a gunman with hostages in a home. It took 5 hours to determine no one was home.

    So they evac a neighborhood for a phony call and search an area for someone that was never there. I do not fault the police there for their tactics, or their response. However, people ask how police can search your home, this is how it is done.

    Though, I am still perplexed how it took 5 hours to ascertain the house was empty.
