Default Ronald Reagan - Man of Faith

We are sorely lacking honorable men like this in politics these days.

There was much to admire about RR. He was no friend to gun owners, though.

Interesting. I didn't know that about him. I was a kid when he was prez, so didn't pay attention then and never heard that. I'm surprised the libs haven't latched onto this as a "gotcha".

Gov Reagan signed the Mulford Act in CA in the 60s. It made open carry of firearms illegal and is said by some to have racist roots as it put an end to Black Panther Party "safety" patrols. Pres Reagan also signed the Firearms Owners Protection Act in 1986. While there were good points in that law it also prohibited private ownership of machine guns manufactured after 1986 by citizens. So, we can thank RR for having to pay $15K dollars or more for an $800 gun. He was also a big supporter of the Brady Bill. Some say he only supported the Brady Bill because of his dementia...but that doesn't explain his earlier anti-gun actions going back to the 60s.

Don't get me wrong. I think Reagan was one of the truly outstanding presidents and I don't think his entire life or even his presidency should be judged solely by his anti-gun legislation. He was a great man and a great American.
