Grand Master Know It All
The 'pushing back' and 'fighting the good fight' against these laws, should they become law, isn't a problem for those that remain, but children today, by and large, are not being raised the same as those of us in our 40's/50's/60's. When kids get suspended from school for tossing an imaginary grenade at evil, or suspended for making the symbol of a gun with their bare hand, it has an impact over time and many little minds are quite impressionable.
I'm spending this weekend in the mountains and spent much of yesterday shooting suppressed .22's off the back deck. Two eight year old boys were here (not mine, I own dogs). They preferred to spend time on their iPads...
Like it or not, there will be a shift in mentality over time and I cannot see society being as gun-friendly a decade from now as it is today.
I'm in a situation wherein it's not as easy for me to pick up and leave at the drop of a hat as it once was due to my wife's job but I do not in any way hold the viewpoint that those who chose to go are "defeatists" as some have posted. For a tiny glimpse of where that "I'm staying and fighting" mentality gets you, cruise on over to calguns.net and see how that 'good fight' is going. 30 years ago you could buy ammo at just about any gas station in Southern California - it was on the shelf right next to the booze, now CA gun owners think they're cool because they have a 10/22 that they've put an HK or AICS stock on as it looks 'tactical"!
The folks in CA and other states will 'fight the good fight', senselessly, until they're in a retirement home. I don't know about y'all but I tend to like results rather than mere endless confrontation. I have X number of years on this ball and I'd like to live my life how I want - right now, not hoping for some mirage on the horizon that continues to recede as I get closer.
As various CO companies continue to import employees for positions that aren't fillable by CO-natives, I sadly think we are going to see those people bring their coastal politics and fear/hatred of firearms with them. In many situations, this isn't a case of those people leaving a place they disliked and trying to replicate it here, it's a case of a CO employer dangling a lucrative carrot in front of their nose and people following the money.
The recall suggestions are interesting but is there some grand illusion that the folks that voted these clowns into office won't support them for doing the very things they were voted in to do?!
If there's only one thing hardcore liberals are good at doing, it's getting out the vote. I live in Boulder and see this firsthand: if they don't get what they want on first try, it's try try again, and again, and again. If there's to be a recall, it's not going to be a cakewalk.
I feel truly blessed that I'm 46 instead of 6.
