About 45 minutes ago I step outside to warm up my truck before heading off to work and I see a Larimer county sheriff SUV in the street blocking my driveway. As I round the corner of my porch two deputies start yelling at me, "get back in your house, get back in your house". I look over and see my neighbor sitting in his car and he looks dead, blood visible on his head shoulders. I go back in the house and lock the door. Then deputies and flashing lights are every where in front of the house.
The deputies come and knock on the door and tell me that he got in a fight with his wife, took off in the car, the deputies tried to pull him over for aggressive driving, he led them back to the house, wouldn't exit the vehicle. When they approached him he shot himself in the head. I walked out my door about 10 seconds after he did this. He had a new wife, new baby and two kids 7 and 10 from a previous marriage. He was straight to the point, a veteran that served in Iraq, liked dogs and rode a motorcycle.
My residence (duplex) is now a crime scene and I can't leave until the investigation is complete, we are fully taped in and the street is blocked off as well.
I ask that prayers be offered up for his salvation and for the healing of his family for this all too common tragedy among our veterans. I hope they won't be angry with him for too long and will forgive him for leaving them too soon. God Speed.
