    Default Look what they are doing in California.

    In CA, you have to register a gun when you buy one. You have to go to the police department. They fire 1 rd and keep the bullet and casing and its put into system with your name assigned to it. Including serial number.

    Hopefully you're kidding... A friend out there just bought a 1911 and he mentioned no such process. Wasn't a requirement when I lived there either.
