The bad guys are pulling out all the stops to make Colorado into the newest Criminal Safe Zone, I woke up this morning and found this in my inbox:

Below is an email from Bruce Hoppe, a MoveOn member in Windsor, CO, who created a petition on SignOn.org, the nonprofit site that allows anyone to start their own online petition. If you have concerns or feedback about this petition, click here.

    Dear Colorado MoveOn member,
Even though I have hunted and fished all my life, I believe that something needs to be done about the proliferation of private arms ownership, which has created a serious public health and safety problem. As drivers, we accept the responsibility for carrying liability insurance. Background checks and limitations on large-capacity ammunition magazines are comparable. We should support these pieces of legislation when they come up for a vote next week.
That's why I created a petition on SignOn.org to the Colorado Legislature, and Governor John Hickenlooper, which says:
Support HB 1224, which prohibits large-capacity ammunition magazines and HB 1229, which requires background checks for gun transfers.
Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.
    Thanks!
    –Bruce Hoppe

Default TAKE ACTION TODAY! Status of Colorado Gun Control Bills

This people don't hear, they know that all citizens forget in 4 years. My experience with sending emails is: all Republicans reply me back saying that they don't support any of this bills (obvious) ( some of then now send me emails every week about other political issues ahhhh) and the democrats don't reply me any email, simple!

I imagine that all democrats have programmed an auto-trash service in their emails for the ones that have "vote no", "2enmenment" and other keywords send it to the trash automatically.

you should reply something like this:

    Dear gun-grabbing jackwagon,
We license people to drive, because they drive on federal owned roads and there is no constitutional right regarding driving as a right of free people. There is however an Amendment regarding the right to keep and bear arms. It says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". I would argue to tell you that in the wake of the NFA of 1934, that our right has been under attack. and the federal government has been infringing on this right. I would like to invite you to go eat a bag of d*cks.

Look at this doozy from one of the recent signers:

There is absolutely no need fro anybody to own a gun. The 2nd amendment does not give any person the right to owe a gun. There are too many guns out there and too many fools owning them.

    Got this reply:

"Ronald, thank you for your email. Indeed, I completely agree with you. As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I will continue to oppose all gun control bills. I already voted “NO’ on all seven Democrat gun control bills. You can count on me to reject any restrictions on your Second Amendment rights.

We were on the Senate Floor Friday for more than 14 hours (9:00 AM to 11:05 PM) with no breaks. The Democrats attempted to cram down 7 awful gun control bills, which I vehemently opposed. Unfortunately, the Democrats passed 5 of the 7 bills on 2nd Reading. Third reading for the these 5 bills will be on Monday. We expect Monday’s session to be just as long. No Republican Legislator has voted for a single gun control bill (every Republican Legislator has voted NO). The Democrats control both the Colorado House & Colorado Senate. Every bill has to pass both chambers with three separate readings.

Please forgive the brevity of this reply. As a State Legislator, I do not have any staff. Right now I am receiving over 500 emails a day, and I try to reply to all of them in my district. I spend about 3 to 4 hours a day replying to emails. I’m honored to represent you at the State Capitol.

    Respectfully, David

I sent the following message to the Democratic Senators listed on the front page. I previously sent a bunch of well-reasoned argument and got nowhere. This time, I went for the 'audacity of hope' approach:

    Dear Senator X:

I am asking you to vote ‘no’ on Senate/House Bill 1224, the magazine limitation legislation. The part I object to most is the prohibition on sale or transfer of existing high capacity magazines. Should I wish to sell a firearm that uses one of these magazines, I will not be able to sell a functional firearm, which will diminish the value of my asset. The fact that I can’t transfer these magazines means that I cannot give any of my firearms to my son when he comes of age.

The reason this is important to me is that one day, I want my son to have the option to inherit my firearms. Perhaps he will have the same love of the shooting sports I have. Perhaps he will want to intern with Alvin Ailey or Limon. Either way, I want him to have some recourse to recover the value of my firearms and associated magazines to fulfill whatever dreams he has.

    Please vote ‘No’ on HB1224.

    Thank you,
