The military has additional rules, which vary between bases at the Commander's whim. When I was in, no-one under E5 was allowed to have a private firearm in on base housing, even a single-shot .22 rifle.

A pen in the hand of this president is far more dangerous than a gun in the hands of 200 million law-abiding citizens. Giffords husband probably has his sights set on a political career...

He bought a gun at a gun store with the intention of dropping it off at the police station afterwards? What is he going to say? "You guys will never believe what I bought at a gun store! Please get rid of this thing!"

A fucking liar. He got caught buying these weapons, and is now backpedaling.

+1 This was my exact thought. I wonder if he just waits until the whole issue dies down and keeps it anyways. He's a hypocrite just like Feinstein who owns guns and yet is so against them. Can I also point out that the crime that was committed that turned Feinstein into an anti-gunner was committed with a REVOLVER, and would still be legal even if her ban went through.

Then mine are defective as they haven't killed anyone, much less a lot of people.

As for being available, he hasn't been shopping in the same stores I normally go to.

Kelly is entitled to his opinion. I choose to respectfully disagree with him. What happened to his wife was tragic. If he gets what he wants, does he really believe that no one else will ever be victimized by violent criminals?

I wonder why he is wasting his money. I will give him more for that AR than the Tuscon PD will.

And there's your answer. He wanted to buy one before they were banned. Then, when news leaked that he purchased it, he decided to save face by saying he was going to turn it over. If he really wanted no one to know or to prove his point that they're too easy to get, he should have purchased it in a private party transaction where there are no records or simple background checks.

Then again, if he was just purchasing it to get it off the streets, they should raid his house because I'm sure he's got many kilos of drugs there too, that he's waiting to turn over to the police.
