Don't get me wrong, I ordered some Boulder air lift mag. I prefer GI mags. I've only in the last year bought a few Pmags. I am probably a Magpul fanboy but I don't get the wild popularity of the Pmags. For poly mags I think the Lancer L5s are a little better. I'm loving this, as I've been getting the aluminum mags for almost nothing. I'm curious to see how a 40 year old plastic mag is going to look. My 40 year alloys could pass for half there age. This mag thing id gonna settle down, and used pmags will be 10 bucks.
I ordered some too. It is not every day when you get to order directly from the manufacturer. In this marker how can you turn down a $12 pmag.
On a different note, happy palindrome pi day 3/14/13
I think we all know that people are buying Airlift mags to be assholes and sell them for a premium to make money...somewhat defeating the purpose of the airlift....
Doubt I'm alone on this thought.
You're kidding right? I would never recommend using a product for a life and death role when the manufacturer suggests not to drop it in their literature...
Weak feed lips, the fact that they damage themselves due to the weight and steel quality if they are dropped, weak springs that fail to lock the bolt back after short term usage and lack of available repair/replacement parts all make the HK mag a no-go. Not to mention the 6 oz of extra weight per magazine you're carrying. We got a boat load of them with our 416s years ago. They were rapidly relegated to the "training use only" pile.
Magazines are not a durable item. Don't get attached to them. Run them until the start giving you problems (number your magazines so you can keep track..) and then either repair them or replace them. This is true for all AR magazines. The advantage magazines like the Tango Down or the Magpul magazines have over USGI mags is that you'll rarely see feed lips spread (causing double feeds). They're much more likely to noticeably crack as they fatigue instead. That's the time to toss them.
Magpul makes a good product. I've been using their stuff overseas for about five years now. There isn't anything wrong with aluminum GI mags with anti-tilt followers either. Get what you like and stack them deep....

This is why I wished they had given them a special "Airlift" stamp. So we could easily spot the scumbags...
