    Default Shipping Ammo

I have 1K rounds of lose 5.56 sitting in an ammo can in VA. I need to ship it here. How do I go about that? Walk it into a UPS store and have them box it?

Box it. Stick an ORM sticker on it. Ship it. Enjoy.

That would probably work. I know that you have to use the HazMat shipping label of "ORM-D", and it can either be a blue sticker style (you probably have to pay for) or written on the box in large letters (at least 1" letters should be sufficient).

For the record though, I have never shipped ammo myself. I have only received ammo from online purchases and know about the ORM-D requirement that way.

If a UPS Store balks, you may have to go to the UPS service center.

You can Google Image "ORM-D" print that and attach it to the box. UPS recommended this. Then take it to the UPS service center for shipping.

I just shipped a box of ammo last week at a FedEx location. I hand-wrote "ORM-D" with a black Sharpie and it's now on the way to NC. It only weighed 4.3 lbs and it cost $18 to ship.

UPS Store will not ship it. Go online to UPS.com and set up a shipment there and print out the shipping label, then drop it off at a UPS store or your local UPS hub. Put ORMD stickers on the box.

The ammo can is about 30 lbs. So I just need to find a box that it will fit in?

Yep, or just wrap the ammo can in cardboard and tape.
