I don't know when the next vote on HB1224 is scheduled, but I will research it. My guess is later this week.

I think we should just bombard Hippypooper and shut down his email and phones. The Senate was our best hope and that is gone.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

The odds are slim that we will win this one, however, it seems this world is one of second chances. The amendment cracks open the door of opportunity. Perhaps some of the House representatives who watched the fierce opposition to the bill in the Senate debates may have changed their minds.

Call and write these representatives today and tell them you want them to vote NO on HB 1224:

I will get on it just as soon as I post this thread. And, thank you for pitching-in and making sure our voices are heard.

Emailed them too. I sent a slightly edited version of JVC's letter:

    Dear Representative,

Please vote "NO" on HB1224. This bill will not prevent or mitigate the next tragedy. This bill does nothing to offer a greater measure of safety to Coloradans. It does nothing to influence the actions of a tiny, mentally-ill minority. Our efforts and tax-dollars would be better spent getting these people the treatment and resources they need.

I am hopeful that time has given you the opportunity to evaluate the efficacy of this bill and its unintended consequences.

    Respectfully,

    Sent 4 more emails.

I changed up my email a little but basically said the same thing. I asked that we take party politics out of the equation and lets focus our efforts and money on mental health isses where it may do some good.

Email sent, though more and more it feels like pissing in the wind. Gotta try regardless.

I absolutely agree. Our massive email/fax/letter/honking campaigns have resulted in absolutely nothing. We made our voices heard, and they just don't care.

Keep writing regardless; when they ask indignantly, "Why am I being recalled?" or "Why am I being removed from office under charges of Treason and/or violation of my Oath of Office?" we can start by saying, "Because we spoke up and gave you a chance to represent us, and you ignored us."

Not to be a downer, but it does kind of seem to me that many of these people, such as "my" (I didn't vote for the woman) senator, Mrs. Nicholson, don't really give two shits what their constituency thinks or wants and will do as they please (or as have been dictated by their party- *cough*Democrats*cough*) and that our letters and words fall on deaf ears. I sent an email to her this morning expressing my disappointment and desire to see that she is not re-elected come next year. I doubt I'll get a response, but at least now she knows that I think she sucks. I hope I'm wrong, but I really don't see these spineless "party/conscious vote" people being swayed by a few hundred thousand of the people that they serve asking them to vote no. I would like to forward the motion of "no confidence" in the Democrats in our state General assembly, and have them removed from power post haste.
