Default HB1224 - Its Not Over Until Its Over

    Hello All,

Since you are following this forum, you are probably aware that HB1224 passed the Senate by a razor-thin margin of 18-17. Two common sense Democrats (Sens. Tochtrop and XXXX) voted against the bill. The bill was amended, which means it goes back to the House for another vote.

The odds are slim that we will win this one, however, it seems this world is one of second chances. The amendment cracks open the door of opportunity. Perhaps some of the House representatives who watched the fierce opposition to the bill in the Senate debates may have changed their minds.

    From RMGO:
Call and write these representatives today and tell them you want them to vote NO on HB 1224:

Please BE POLITE! Angry, mean or otherwise threatening language will only prove the wrong-headed assumptions of the gun control advocates. As mother used to say, you can attract a lot more bees with honey than vinegar.

I will get on it just as soon as I post this thread. And, thank you for pitching-in and making sure our voices are heard.

    Take care - JVC

I'm surprised Rape Whistle Salazar is considered a potential swing vote.

I've emailed so many times... I'm sure they have me set up on their spam filter. And if they are anything like the Senate... they are being persuaded NOT to look at their email or check their messages until these proceedings are over. "It will weigh on your psyche" is the excuse but we all know the leaders are telling them to do that so there will be less potential to be convinced / swayed.

I'll send out one more in a couple of days... but I am losing hope from a legislative standpoint!

I can appreciate the emotional fatigue that goes into this effort, and for sure the lawmakers are feeling it too. That is why a particularly polite request might get through the cracks of frustration, anger and other negative emotions. We, and they, have yelled, screamed or otherwise honked our opposition. Now that they have seen how this tide of opposition is rising, some of the reps may change their minds, but not if we prove that we are "crazy/stupid/ignorant gun nuts" like they assume we are. They need to know they can trust us, even though we can't necessarily trust them. Sorry it may have come down to that, but I just sent this email to all of the above:

    Please vote NO on HB1224

    Dear Rep. XXXXXXXX:

Please vote "NO" on HB1224. This bill will not prevent or mitigate the next tragedy. From my perspective, it is a case of collective punishment for the actions of a tiny, mentally-ill minority. Our efforts would be better served getting these people the treatment and resources they need, for all of our sakes.

I am hopeful that time has given you more time to evaluate the efficacy of this bill and its unintended consquences.

    With respect,

    JVC

    Done!

    Colorado House Representatives,

A second chance of voting against HB 1224 is an option I see to not limit the legal citizens of Colorado to own and possess items that will not infringe on our rights. As a resident, small business owner and citizen of this country I am asking you not pass HB 1224 being pushed through with amendments and no constitutional backing.

I contribute to this state, in close to 5 million in sales per year that are taxed, and deserve a voice in how this vote will affect the country. Our founding fathers specifically placed the verbiage "Shall not be infringed" to protect the rights of the people on this issue. Limiting firearm supporting items is just as devastating to our ability to uphold the 2nd amendment.

I know pressure is placed upon you from government leaders but we the people of Colorado rely on your decision to lead us to a free and prosperous future.

Please vote "No" on HB 1224 for the future of a safe and protected America.

You are all doing the right thing, even if we lose this battle...

    Three things should be clear...

    1. Always vote Pro-Gun
    2. This will be a lifelong political battle
    3. Common sense, Integrity and Freedom must also be fought for.

The Denver Post has an article (cant post link from my phone) that quotes Mike McLacan D Durango as saying he has not made his mind up on the bill. Isn't he the guy they told in a town hall meeting that there would be a recall started for him?

Keep writing McLachlan and let him know we want a no vote
