Has anyone here ever had someone literally tell them
"Hey man, look I cant pass a background check because (insert BS story here), is that cool?"
Just curious, because I have not sold an item because I did not feel like the potential buyer was on the up and up.
On the other side of this, I once bought a gun through a guy I worked with from a cop. The guy I worked with brought in a list of crap this cop was selling off for whatever reason. On it was a Ruger MKII bull barrel for I think $200 (this was 1998-ish) and I gave my coworker the cash and the next day he brought me a shiny Ruger. Great gun. Loved it. Right up until I got pulled over in Reno and put into jail because it was stolen. Stayed in jail for 6 hours. Had to pawn my Dan Wesson .357 for bail. The only reason there was no case pursued against me was because it was missing (stolen) from the evidence locker at the Nashville Airport, and I had the handwritten receipt along with the list of other items for sale in my records. No way I could have gotten it. I gave up the guy that I worked with- his day job was a property room tech, and the cop who sold me the gun. Honestly I should have known better, an property room tech with a list of crap for sale? Shoulda been a red flag for days.
Nowadays if anything smells even remotely funny to hell with it. I also tend to have folks meet me at my shop, where the security cameras are hidden and rolling 24/7 to an off-site hard drive. If I go to meet someone I dont know or have not done business with or no one knows, then I am armed to the teeth and tend to use public places with security cameras rolling- bass pro and Sportsmans are my favorites! Yeah, I am a tick paranoid...
