Honestly, my gut tells me gun owners are a bit on the paranoid side (right or wrong) and most are willing to perpetuate an unsubstaniated story of BATFE setting up stings and watching gun-related forums (work related, not as a member) look to nab good, honest people. I don't see or hear it but that's why I was asking for correction if I am wrong.
