Have you seen the Motorola muffs http://www.petra.com/motorola-mhp81-...-headset.html? The cable that comes with them would probably work with your Howard Leights. The cable is probably just one of these http://www.motorola.com/Business/US-...ne-53727_US-EN with the earbud cut off and a 3.5mm jack in it's place to plug into the muffs.

This seems like it should be an easy thing to do but after an hour of searching I can not figure it out. So I need a boom microphone of some sort that I can attach to the headphones or a shirt or ? and it needs to be able to use the headphones as the audio and send the mic to the radio. Any Ideas?
You can't wire (headphone) input > (radio) input and expect to get anything. The muffs in question don't have a mic input, and that is going to prevent you from using them to send input to the radio. If the radio has an "output" you can use an auxiliary cable to get audio into your muffs, but that's going to be the limit of the gear you've specified.

Thank you Josh, after looking it over I think I was over thinking it a bit, the electronic muffs do a good job re broadcasting the transmission in the headphones . I think I may just get a boom mic for the radio and call it good. On a side not the Electronic muff I went with are awesome!

Jup the Leight Impact Sports are a fantastic muffs. Picked up my first pair on Monday. They are replacing Peltor 6S muffs - finger breakers. The left muff has a serious AGC problem with take off sqeualing feedback.
