Actually, an alternative retailer is available... backorder.

Backorder is not a retail source for an item. Buying an item above market price puts it in your hand. Placing an item on backorder does not. If it's something you need, backorder isn't going to do you any good.

That's why I added the caveat about the intent of what MagPul is doing. I don't believe in the term "price gouging" for reasons that have been explained here many times over.

I put people taking advantage of a welfare program and people taking advantage of this Magpul program into the same category in my mind. The type that can't turn down something that they can get even though they know it was never intended for them.

All I can say is my sons/grandchildren each own a shit-ton of 30 and 20 round mags. If your brother had ANY consideration for future generations, those mags would quickly become the possessions of a younger generation.
