90 on the classifier, and most matches are around that count.

Depends on the match. And how much you miss. If you hit satisfactory (to you) with every shot the minimum round count is all you will need. If you miss some, you can choose to take the miss or re-engage the target on most stages.

Minimum round count is usually around 80-90 or so. Maybe 100 on a really high round match, but that is quite rare. I think we've had a couple matches with minimum round count down near 70 too. The max you can shoot on most normal matches (assuming not shooting 1911 or revolver) is 31 rounds per stage and 5 stages. So 155 rounds MAX for a normal match. Revolvers and 1911s have a max even lower. Every once in a blue moon there might be an issue that makes you re-shoot a stage, so add another possible 31 rounds MAX to that count. This is very rare but you should be prepared for it.

On typical match days, I usually end up shooting 90-100 rounds per match, and on a really bad day might go through 115.

Sounds doable to me. The next two months are spoken for, but I may have to try and make the August match.

You definitely should! If you do, let me know and if you want you can be on the squad I RSO. I give out penalties like candy on Halloween, but only to Spleify. He starts each stage with 3 penalties and works his way up from there! But you are safe.

I'm a firm believer that 100 rounds at an IDPA match are better practical training/practice than 500-1000 rounds at a static range.

What the hell? You got me right out of the gate. Some minor thing about me stopping to engage a target when I was supposed to be on the move.

Awesome! I will definitely let you know.

I'm thinking the same thing as far as training is concerned, especially since I can't even get 500-1000 rounds static lol. Seems the most I get anymore is quarterly quals.

Yeah but you got only one. Any you earned it by not following the COF. Spliefy got like 26 or something, most for being ugly or looking funny at any given moment.

Quarterly quals... I take it you are .mil or LEO? If so, in IDPA you have the option to either shoot with gear that meets IDPA rules requirements, or in your full duty rig... whichever you prefer. Note that full duty rig includes all gear that you would wear on duty... holster, cuffs, mags, carriers, OC spray, etc all on during competition.

LEO, I should have looked into IDPA a long time ago, seems it could do me some good. Like those 15 minute circuit workouts that really kick your butt lol.

    For sure.

Most duty gear doesn't meet the IDPA requirements... e.g. is wasn't designed for concealment. But you get the option to either run concealable gear or your full duty rig. I'm guessing you would prefer to do the latter to get better training for possible on the job scenarios, but the choice is yours.

ETA: I'm not trying to say that IDPA will train you for the crap you might run into on duty... but could be a possible piece to the puzzle for better training for such scenarios with your duty equipment. Hope it didn't sound like I was trying to equate what we do with the risks you take on in your job. For that I am grateful that you put yourself on the line for all of us.
