I sent him this email, think he'll read it?
Dear Governor Hickenlooper,
I'd like to ask you to PLEASE veto ALL of these new gun bills! PLEASE!
These will do nothing to "keep people safe", and we all know this. These bills merely represent an agenda of the Democratic Party, and they appear to have their roots in Washington.
As an American, I've always been under impression that our elected Representatives and Senators at both State and Federal levels were supposed to act as representatives of US, THE PEOPLE. And that they were supposed to strive to do the things that WE, THE PEOPLE asked them to do for us. In other words, they're supposed to work FOR US, correct? Exactly when did that concept change to allow them to just decide for us what THEY think is best for us?
When were The People of Colorado asked about OUR opinions on these bills? Who asked us if we wanted them, or felt they were necessary? Was there a poll or vote on them that I missed?
And did anybody, ANYBODY, ask any of our elected officials to please create these bills? Were these requested by any citizen at all? If not, they need to be stopped immediately when they hit your desk. It's very clear that WE, The People Of Colorado, DO NOT want these bills enacted! If you don't believe me, then please ask us. Ask every voter in this state how they feel about it, and please act accordingly when they reach your desk.
The Denver Post has been running a public poll asking for opinions on repealing HB1224 if it were to be enacted, you should check out the results of that poll. The OVERWHELMING majority of votes so far are for YES, to repeal it. That means WE DON'T WANT IT! And the same goes for the other bills.
Please act on these bills according to the wants of The People that you represent, and that these bills will affect, NOT the wants of the Democratic Party or The White House. You work for The People of Colorado, not for the people in Washington. Please remember that, and veto these bills. Please.
And The Democratic Party should be ashamed of John Morse's recent statements. He needs a talking-to. As Senate President, he of all people should know that he and his associates work for The People of Colorado, not for the Democratic Party. They certainly haven't been acting like it lately.
Thank you!
Ron xxxxx
