NY man faces prison for chasing burglar out of his home

A Manhattan millionaire faces three years in jail for drawing an unlicensed gun on a burglar inside his home.

George Bardwil, who owns linen company Bardwil Home, was in his E Street apartment when an intruder came into his home in January, The Daily Mail reports.
Mr. Bardwil, 60, threatened the intruder with a loaded .40 cal Sig Sauer. The man fled and Mr. Bardwil called the police.
After showing the cops footage from his home surveillance cameras, they arrested him under suspicions of owning an illegal firearm.
The businessman’s lawyer, Michael Bachner, told the New York Post that the gun is legally registered to the defendant’s bodyguard.
“There’s no dispute that George was being burglarized,” Mr. Bachner said. “George had been the victim of multiple burglaries, and the DA’s office concedes that it was used in self defense.”

Mr. Bardwil has a Checkered past of beating his ex wife a girlfriend almost to the point of death and then a Maid. Look him up on Google before attempting to make him out to be the citizen of the year.

Maybe. But that doesn't excuse a burglary or stupid laws that don't allow you to defend yourself.

Won't be long til someone in CO will call the police in a similar situation then get issued a summons or arrested by the police for having an illegal magazine.

I don't know how his arrests equated to convictions for this guy, but this really may just be an end around to get him on something they think will stick.

This sounds just like the story about the man in the UK who used an old (illegal) shotgun to shoot one of two burglars in his home, outside his bedroom door, in the middle of the night. That homeowner is serving life in prison for not letting a burglar bash his skull in with a crowbar.
