I might have to check it out again. I haven't been there for several years because
    (1) More and more dangerous/careless nuts were going there who either didn't know range safety at all or eyed my guns just a bit too closely (ended up having to leave someone armed with the guns when I went down-range to adjust the targets).
    and
    (2) Folks cleaned out their homes of garbage to shoot up and never bothered to clean it up befire they left.

I totally agree with on range etiquette, seems like some have the slightest clue and IMO shouldn't own guns.
I went on a Saturday a few weeks ago, on one of the shorter ranges we counted a total of 13 people. One shooting an AK over his head like you see in the movies....now that makes me nervous.
Went this past Saturday early in the morning and it was totally fine, started to get crowded around 1pm.....
There is a lot of trash up there no doubt, I did see a few guys cleaning up the ranges though....thats always good to see.
I don't mind shooting up there as its close & a convenience but if I found another place to go I'd probably go there on weekends.

    Cheers

I finally just decided to spend the few bucks and go to Dranon Arm's (aka Dragon Man's) off of Curtis Road and Hwy 94. It's an easier drive than going to Rampart (actually use less gas) so it's almost a break even deal.

It gets a little crowded by 11AM on the weekends but it's safer and a lot less hassle.

Like I said in a previous post though, I my give Rampart another shot for a change in scenery.

That was always my take on the guy too, but the last 2 times I've been there he has been very friendly and cordial.

Rampart isn't bad during the week (most of the time). The only problem I've had up there lately was a guy offering unsolicited advice about shot placement. ("If you shoot into the lower abdomen instead of centermass you'll have a good blood trail to follow" ).

Hmmm, I have heard some people giving others advice/tips on shooting techniques, but never heard shot placement yet.
One guy gave me about 20 ballistic 223 rounds, he didn't have a 223 caliber so he passed em on to me.....

I know you used to be allowed to shoot up at Saint Peters Dome, anybody know if thats still the case? I might go have a look in the next few weeks.
