    Default nightvision?

I have an extra ar build just sitting here looking to fit in, and given the current state of politics, and not knowing what they will ban first. I'm thinking of turning it into a night rifle, anyone here with opinions of the atn rifle scopes? I can get my hands on a gen 1, nib mk330 with ir illuminator for $400.00 would it be worth it, or should I save up some more and go with a higher generation?

GEN III or better is your best bet.

that being said.. GEN I is better than nothing.

I'd recomend NVGs and IR laser as your best option. (more versitile)

how far out you looking to see clearly? how often would yo ube using the scope etc?

that would be one of the factors in choosing a NV setup. the ATN's are not bad for 100yds. past that clearly i'd go with something that has a litton or other reliable brand tube.
not to diminish this forum, however this link gets you to one of many NV forums out there.

i've looked into NV and i'd need to drop and easy $1200. for something i could use. had a chance to buy an ATN for a real smoking price. it did what i (at that time) looked for it to do. Even then for the real time use i'd get from it, i couldn't justify $300 let alone $1200+ on a unit.

buy ammo and set up some motion sensor perimiter lights on your property.

I have some video of both the russian ATN nightvision and my PVS-14 shot thru a cannon powershot in my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb6SnaPPH-Q

You can clearly see the difference.
