    Wrong. According to the Framers that also wrote the Declaration of Independence;
    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
    We already have rights. The government does not grant them to us. The 'Bill of Rights' in the Consitution limits the powers of government to interfere with some of those specific rights.

    This is also backed up by the 9th Amendment;
    The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

    Gman,
    I never said the role of government is to grant civil liberties.
    Continue to think inside the box.
    Framers believed governments job was to protect civil liberties not give them.
    Also the fore fathers never mention that the federal government should provide education, health care, housing, retirement & the list goes on and on.
    It's a sad state of affairs this country is in.
    We continue to allow government to spend like drunken sailors and watch the dollar plummet. The market is over
    The bailing out of business by the tax payer only continues to cheapen or dollar.
    Mortgage bonds sold to Foreign interest has dismantled our housing structure. We had to bail out Freddy and Annie due to political and economical pressures. This will only make the eventual fall of our markets that much more painful. We get (tax payers) to pick up the tab for trillions of dollars for bad mortgages, that were used to sustained trade with China. Is that fair? Is that what Adams and Jefferson had in mind 4 July 1776?
    watch as health care is gobbled up by the people who brought you public housing. You think it's bad now. The airlines will become as Amtrak is. You've already listen to the leftist talk of nationalizing the oil companies. Think it can't happen?
    GDP is 75% consumption. How much of that is paid for on credit cards? The average family's consumer debt is: $35,154. This does not include the mortgage. The average family's savings is: $2,558. These are liquid savings only and does not count any retirement accounts or stocks/bonds, etc. This is only money that you could access in less than a day's time if need be.
    We can not continue down this road of blissful ignorance.

    Gman no doubt you are a Patriot. So shake this country awake and let's get back to the American way of life!
