Default Serbu refuses to sell .50 cal sniper rifles to NYPD

    http://www.guns.com/2013/03/25/serbu...ifles-to-nypd/

What would they need with a .50 cal sniper rifle?

Honestly I don't believe they should be selling .50BMG rifles to ANY police department ... not even in Texas ... not even my own Sheriff Maketa (a man of the law committed to the rights of the people).

There is absolutely zero legitimate law enforcement use of the .50BMG. Period.

But good for Serbu for standing up for the rest of us at potentially their own expense.

Good for Serbu. Maybe NYPD wants to use a 50BMG as a breaching tool or more realistically to stop a drug lord in his armored car.

And in related news, the Tuscon gun shop where Mark Kelly purchased an AR cancels his order!

that's exactly what I was going to say.
Notice the little reference to Barrett's policies in their letter too.

Now I have 2 .50's manufacturers to choose from. woohoo

Just to play devils advocate, I hear the Coast Guard uses 50's on engine blocks for drug interdiction. Maybe that's their intention. Not that those farging bastages need them, good for Serbu.

I had to laugh when I got to this part:

What’s interesting about this is that while Serbu makes a fine firearm and impressive .50 BMG rifles, they’re not a first-tier company in the sniper rifle world and are perhaps best known for their compact Super-Shorty shotguns.
Two of the biggest names in sniper rifles, Barrett and ArmaLite, have already stated that they will not sell to the police departments of New York. If the NYPD is calling Serbu, we have to wonder how many other companies have told them to keep walking.
