Default Denver Post insults Magpul in editorial

Tosches: Go ahead, Magpul. Move. Wyoming seems nice.

    The Denver Post
Employees at Magpul Industries Corp., in Erie. The gun parts manufacturer has threatened to leave Colorado if the state passes a law limiting the capacity of ammunition magazines. (Lewis Geyer, Longmont Times-Call)

Right after church today, I'm heading out to buy a Proudly Made In Colorado Magpul-brand PMAG 30-round NATO Polymer Magazine for my semi-automatic AR15 assault rifle.
I want the 30-round clip in case the 25-man roster of the Colorado Rockies and five coaches invade my home in the middle of the night, which I pray will never happen. More importantly, for the sake of the team, I pray that Todd Helton will not be driving the getaway bus.
Magpul (company motto: "When 29 Bullets Just Aren't Enough") has threatened to leave Colorado if state lawmakers ban magazines that can hold more than 15 rounds.
"We will leave if it passes," barked Doug Smith, Magpul's chief operating officer.
The Denver Post followed up on the story with an editorial page poll, asking if Magpul and other high-capacity magazine makers should leave Colorado if such a law passes. Some 64 percent of responders told Magpul, "Don't let the door hit you in the buttocks region on your way out." About 30 percent said such companies should stay in the state even with a law banning some of their products. And 7 percent were unable to answer because were frantically climbing a tree to get away from Todd Helton's car.
Magpul says it employs more than 200 people at its Erie plant, and claims it will spend about $85 million this year in Colorado. By way of comparison, Denver entrepreneur Philip Anschutz spent $86 million last Tuesday on a haircut and a new tie. And at lunch on Thursday, Todd Helton spent $87 million on merlot.
My point here — other than strongly advising fans sitting near first base at Coors Field to get the heck out of the way when Todd Helton spots the beer vendor — is that Coloradans ... Coloradoites ... Colorudians ... uh, we don't take kindly to being threatened. And in the wake of Columbine and Aurora, we really don't like being threatened by a guy who makes tools designed for the sole purpose of killing lots of people in the shortest possible time.
So go ahead, Doug. Move. Wyoming sounds nice.
Colorado lawmakers are proposing three other new gun laws as well. All four seem to have a reasonable chance of passing. Which would upset Virginia Beach, Va., pizza shop owner Jay Laze, who offers a 15 percent discount to customers who walk into his shop with a gun. (Related note: 7-Eleven officials say they are definitely not planning a similar bring-a-gun discount program, opting instead to upgrade those criminal height charts at their doorways.)
From The Associated Press: "Since the discount began last Friday, Laze says 80 percent of his customers have brought guns into the pizza shop. He says one customer came in with an AK-47." Because nothing says "fun family pizza night" quite like shoving little Billy under the table as a customer wearing one shoe and carrying an assault rifle shouts, "I SAID EXTRA PEPPERONI!! AND DON'T MAKE THE ^&*%@ CRUST TOO THICK!!!!!"
Fortunately, in this raucous gun debate we have the clear thinking of Vice President Joe Biden to guide us. The other day, Biden said people don't need assault rifles to protect themselves and should get shotguns. During a live-streamed question and answer session with Parents Magazine, a woman named Kate wondered how people will defend themselves if the government bans assault weapons and large-capacity magazines. Biden responded: "Kate, if you want to protect yourself, get a double-barreled shotgun. I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that's wooded and somewhat secluded. I said, 'Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put up that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.' "
Which is great advice. If you're being attacked by ducks.
Speaking of advice and ducks, Todd Helton, who is from Tennessee, is an avid duck hunter. My advice: When hunting with him, no matter how many times he asks, never put a beer bottle on your head and "walk over there."

It is a bizarre editorial. I can't figure out if he is serious, trying to be funny, sarcastic, ironic, or what. But truthfully, I didn't read it that close. Anyone who writes so poorly isn't worth the time.

He always has been, and will continue to be a douche-bag liberal; and that is probably why he is no longer employed by the CS's Gazette..But the "Independent" helps him pay his bills.

"Rich Tosches left a job as a feature writer and columnist at the Los Angeles Times to join the Gazette in 1993. Frankly, what else do you need to know about him? OK, he has also written for the Denver Post and the now-defunct Rocky Mountain News, is in his second stint at the Indy, and has authored a fly-fishing humor book, Zipping My Fly. Did we mention that he left the L.A. Times to join the Gazette?"

    Another CA implant.
To anger a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell him the truth.

I do not know which is worse, the editorial itself, or the comments to follow. I read some of this shit and realize there is no hope for common sense to prevail at anytime. Call me slow, but this crap is really settling in.
