VM&P naphtha is what I've always used (buy it by the gallon for my business). I always need to remove double faced tape residue. It won't hurt any finish. Lighter fluid is the same thing, except more refined and more expensive.

always stick with a classic WD40
as the legend/myth/lie was told to me
WD40 was made to take off the adhesive from emergency aircraft repair tape (duct tape ) during ww2 .
