The impact in the plate hurt more than the shrapnel getting shot into my shoulder...

Had a bruise encompassing my left shoulder down to 3" under the nipple line in a big yellow/black/blue circle...

    Shit hurt.

Never had a penetrating gun shot though...I consider myself fortunate. That was the only time I've been hit in my military career and I'm thankful it wasn't a 7.62x51 or 54, might've gone right through and that may've been it for me :P
Still have the plate? I would, and the military would get told to go F themselves about getting it back.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.

Dont think that it would have made any difference.

This is what a 10mm WILL do. The first is self explanatory, the second is where the pressure blew my hand apart no wound track, the third is the exit wound after a skin graft.

Thanks. Hand will never work right again but it works I'd say 80% and it could have been worse. It could have been a .45 haha.

I have lots but hard to upload. Have some cool x-rays. You can see the bullet fragments, the two plates and all the screws.

The plate was written off as damaged and was destroyed as far as I know, once I got back from the field hospital after the bruise had subsided and I was X-Ray'd, MRI'd and a ton of other scans for internal bodily damage, I was issues a new set and sent back out.

Took about a month and a half for the bruise to go away....I was all sorts of colors, yellow, black, blue, brown,...and white people used to call African Americans "colored" lol
