I sounds like the Aguilar ammo from a few years back. Alloy bullet. You want to see impressive. Look at the federal HST. Haven't heard anything bad yet.
Isn't Liberty the mfg that makes that Halo Point ammo. Sounds like the exact same round. Pretty sure someone had a thread about it, but it could have been on another forum.

Just from your description I'd guess that it doesn't have near enough penetration to be useful for SD.
Has anybody ever shot it into gelatin?
they made a "halo" round and as sroz said it might be a similar round

50 grains? Good grief, no wonder the velocity is so high. I guess they sound good in theory. My gut reaction (after a 30 second digestion of the numbers) makes me think I'd consider them for my primary mag but keep a secondary mag loaded with traditional defense ammo. My thought is that most defensive shootings occur at pretty close range so 2" groups would likely not be a problem. If I'm forced to reload however, I'm guessing the distance will be such that I'll want the accuracy of a heavier round.
Of course that assumes a lot of things (range, accuracy under duress, etc) and like I said, it's a gut reaction based on 30 seconds of thought.
Tactical Defense Solutions has posted a YouTube review of this ammo, using ballistic gel comparing against HST. Pretty impressive results:
