I've also been to Prague, beautiful city and great place to party in if you're single. FYI, sitting/ordering in the square is cool, but you pay a mark up. The Czech Rep. isn't what it used to be from a cheap perspective. Latvia & Estonia still are though. From a geographic perspective, Venice is due South of Germany, in the NE of Italy. Prague is due East of Germany. Prague is 200 mi North of Munich and 400 mi North of Venice. I recommend you take a look at a map and consider the distances as you plan this trip. You don't want to spend all your time traveling. Additionally, I recommend the book "Neither Here nor There" by Bill Bryson. It's about traveling Europe and is hillarious. I hate to read and I couldn't put this down.
On the beer note, yes.. the quality is high, but variety is lesser. I'll pit beers from most of the breweries in CO against German beers any day of the week, and that's from a guy that loves German beer.
