    Default Is shipping going up?

Seem with all the extra stocking up I've been doing, looks like the golden age of mail order is behind me. Lately the low cost or free shipping is less frequent. Everyone is getting a little higher priced for shipping. Latest purchase from natchez was 12 bucks for a few twenty rounders for USmail. Faster UPS was gonna be 18 bucks. Last amazon order took a long time to get to me too. I'm pretty sure the sales tax free will eventually end too. I searched before posting. Please don't hit me if its a re-post.

Have you looked at the price of diesel the last few years? I work in a factory, our shipping costs have almost doubled because of fuel surchages in that time, and we're sending out 900-1200 pound pallets.

Flat rate shipping. Most vendors use it. $X per order per set box size. Brownells is $13.95 flat rate, once the order goes over X they ship UPS., it's their company policy.

You must not remember the good ol' days when it took six to eight weeks to get anything. It would take that long even though there wasn't any shortage or mad rush. It took a week to ten days just to get the order to them. You had to use the US Post Office to mail your order in or use a dial telephonewith long distance charges which were much more expensive than it is now. Even a rush order would take 3 or 4 weeks.

It's still cheaper than local even with the increased shipping and handling. At least most of the time.

The internet revolutionized shopping. It has made shopping a national or even international event. Things you didn't even consider getting by 'mail order' are routinely purchased long distance.

But yeah, it does stink that some S&H has gone up. But it's still better than it used to be.

    Have Fun.

I'm with you, I remember ordering things from comic books. Months of waiting, for stuff that usually wasn't exactly as represented. I'm just griping cause I think the sweet spot of online ordering was like two years ago. Most of everything I buy is easier to get online, local stores just don't stock stuff anymore.
