Just my 2 cents (if they're worth that much)..
I don't really like game ears but I know a lot of folks use them and like them.
As far as actual hearing "protection", I'v never found that to be necessary, and I believe it would be more of a handicap for hearing the little sounds of game moving in your area (like a twig snapping when stepped on by an elk 150 yards away - I've heard it before. Or consider being able to hear that mountain lion stalking you - just in time to turn and see it lunge at you.

I'm bad, usually don't wear glasses but I usually have earplugs on one of those plastic holder things that depress the plugs into the ears. You can wear them around your neck until you are ready to shoot and they just take a second to put on, like an earmuff. Squishable plugs take too long to expand into your ear canal when hunting, or at least I think so.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.
I hunt like my ancestors they sure did not have hearing protection much less eye protection.

I was thinking maybe something like these:

That's exactly what I use.

I use the lower priced game ear.. the cheap ones.. I have hearing loss in my left ear so if I didn' use them I hear stuff not at the same level so it's wierd..you can adjust these so you can hear stuff that you normally can't..even if you have good hearing..
I can't stress enough though about hearing protection.. being around grinders and equipment all my life took it's toll and now I'm paying the price..
i dont wear eye protection and i dont wear ear protection.
I wear ear protection for work as I am around jet engines all day long and that would surely take its toll, but for hunting...
I can hear enough to take down my animals, and the one shot is not going to be that detremental to my hearing for the rest of my life. I highly doubt the 1 shot a year i take without earplugs will destroy my hearing, maybe i am wrong, but I am surely not going to wear earplugs out there, or think to put them on when a huge bull elk is heading my way...
I wont pick up a gun much less shoot it without eye protection.
For elk or other big game hunting hearing protection is optional, but I normally wear electronic hearing-aid type plugs.
