Thank you and I agree. At least in terms of AR-type rifles. No sense having a gun that won't shoot the cheap/available stuff. A lot of people seem to forget that much of the US-made military ammo in WWII was steel-cased and worked just fine back then. Should work just fine now, too.

I can't afford to shoot the good stuff. If God had wanted me to reload He wouldn't have invented Commies who manufacture Wolf ammo.

I only use trojan sex lubricant for the oiling and bacon flavored grease for the rest. I can sit there and smell my safe for hours.

I must be the only guy who thinks there's nothing wrong with shooting steel-cased ammo through my ARs (or other guns). And I shoot it by the metric shit-ton when I can find it. I shoot Wolf through my Kimber and Colt 1911s, too. And I clean my guns with whatever solvent I happen to have open at the time and lube them with whatever oil happens to be available. And I can't remember the last time I ever had a problem with one.

If I were you I'd get the least expensive gun oil I could find and use that. The only difference is you may have to use it a little more often...but so what. Maintain them properly, use a lubricant of some sort and shoot the hell outta them.

Personally, 1) I think people really over-think this stuff and, 2) marketing hype and internet myths are wonderful things.
Here is a pretty good read about on steel and brass http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/bras...el-cased-ammo/

As for oil, what ever gives you confidence works. If you do not mind paying for the newest and greatest, go for it. If rem oil or hoppes oil works for you that is fine too. I am just not a fan of motor oil because the EPA removed/limited the zinc, phosphorus and sulfur that help with extreme wear and shock loading.

Yeah, I've read about that ammo test. My personal results, though not with the same firing/cleaning/maintenance regimen obviously, are different. I've never used Tula so I can't comment on that.

I've also read about lacquer clogging gas ports, broken extractors, stuck cases, etc. My personal experience is different and I'd be surprised if I've fired less than 50k rounds of steel ammo through my Colts. I'd also be willing to wager that the percentage of people who have had horrific experiences with steel-cased/lacquer-coated ammo vs the number of people who've reportedly had horrific experiences with the same ammo is probably very, very small.
