So two of my co-workers have horror stories.

Both of them, a large part of it is because they decided the doctor didn't know what he was talking about, and started working at work/yard/etc again before the doctor said to.

One of them went to a Kaiser place, and from everything he describes, he went to Doctor Nick. "Hi everybody! Now where did I put those safety scissors?"

The doctor I used makes two small incisions rather than one large one. No stitches, so it can heal from the inside out, the way your body likes to heal. You can be darn sure I listened to his instructions, so I could blame him if it all went wrong! I only took the local at the doctor's (they offered me Valium to "calm me down"), and they gave me Tramadol, but I never needed it.

I had it done at the beginning of two days off, and I took two extra days off work, for a total of four days. If you work in something very demanding like construction, you might need to take a whole week off.

I think the two big parts are finding the right doctor, and listening to what he says. One guy's got so infected, that - in his words - the stitches looked like a cockroach trying to climb out of his sack.

I work from home so it's no biggy, but the wife is a raving lunatic today because the kids are a mess...she's used her big girl voice twice...Older kid crapped her pants at the neighbors, and younger kid wants to bike riding...

Man up and get on that bicycle so your kid can enjoy himself.

I am pretty sure he would rather sit around with crapped pants

This is the biggest part of all of it. The guy I went to said he had done something like 700 in his time. I trusted him...
