Aaaaargh. Your vehicle is not an extension of your home in Colorado.

That said, a private employer has no "right" to enter your car. But you don't have a "right" to carry a gun in your vehicle on private property either - but the employer's remedy is to fire you or withdraw permission for you to park your car on their property.

thanks, that's what I figured. I don't carry in my car... just didn't know how legal it was for them to say that.

An employer can fire you for a lot of things in Colorado. Bringing a firearm to work property against company policy, in most circumstances, is one of them.

You would not be hired by us if you did NOT have a gun in your car.

Unless of course you were a hot chick, but then again hot chicks that work with steel usually have a gun or 2.

This is SO wrong. There are several ways a police officer can search your car without a warrant. Same goes with employers on their property.

They can always make searches of vehicles a condition of employment that you can either agree to or not. And if your employer is the federal gov't, well...

If you get to the point where your employer is demanding to search your vehicle, you really need to be looking for your next gig anyway. $0.02

Colorado is at will work state. They can't make you unlock your car for them, but they can fire you for it and you have no recourse.
