CC is what it is. I got called for shooting too fast, then one of the other RO's corrected him that it was the guy a couple stalls down. No apollogy or 'sorry man'. It is close to where I live. If the family come into town and wants to shoot I may go back but it is not a first choice. It is filled with Urban shooters just learning. If you want a Shooter Nirvana.... Whittington. Hands down. Every type of shooting you can imagine, professional setup, great people. Most times I had million dollar ranges completly to myself...... I think I just popped wood againthinking about it!!

The only complaint I ever had at CC was after the cease fire when they walk by your rifles in the racks to make sure the action is open and empty. The RO told me I put the rifle in the wrong position for him to see the open chamber. My response was "really" and he got into a hissy fit until I stopped him with "it's a lefty action". He left me alone the rest of the day.

I haven't been to CC shooting range since it was integrated with Cherry Creek State Park.
Trap and Sporting Clay range was okay. They use to check of loads were < 1200ft/s.

I had to allocate my concentration on RO's almost as much as my target at a rifle/pistol range.

In defense of the RO's at Cherry Creek, as a public range, they have to assume everyone on the line is an idiot until proven otherwise.
Batteriesnare Hangs there, or used to, and put up a good word. Once the guys got to know me, no one got stupid.
Their house, their liability, their rules. they are playing to the lowest common denominator as a safety mechanism.

Hell, I've been treated worse as a guest to a private range. Not naming Names... but I was yelled at for someone else uncasing their (unloaded) weapon while a guy was goofing off down range.

I used to teach hunter education, and I spoke to a lot of beginning gun owners and beginning hunters. Cherry Creek has done a lot to drive people away from the shooting and hunting sports, based on how people related their experiences at the range there to me. I can't tell you how many people contrasted how I treated them during the live fire exercises to how they were treated at their first visit to CC.

And I've spent a lot of time as a volunteer range officer at my local club, and at USPSA events over the years (CRO cert with NROI).

I don't mind the range so much if you know what you are getting when you go there. I have found it is pretty useful for setting up a 100yd zero with a lead sled. If you want to do anything other than put lead on paper at 50 or 100 yds rifle, or 13 yds pistol, go somewhere else.

I liked it for what it is, but have absolutely no illusion that it is anything else. There are chuckleheads there all the time that don't know how to sight in their optics, think that 100yd shot with a rifle is a big deal, and to date my personal favorite were freaked out that I was putting a .22LR in a 4 inch circle at 100 yds with iron sights.

If you want to run any sort of speed or dynamic drills find somewhere else.

There was in fact one individual there that had a hunting rifle without iron sights, scope base mounted and no optic mounted to the base yet there he was shooting away til the staff realized it. That's about when I left.

Anytime people are shooting the big caliber handguns at FL, the boom can be heard from the front door (almost). Kind of ruins the experience for others on the range, imho. I'm sure it's the same at other indoor ranges.
