There is also a great trail, I think it's called the Gore Creek trail, that goes from the back of Wildernest (Silverthorn) to east vail over red buffalo pass. it is truly gorgeous and follow water which is nice. I think it hits 12,400 but not sure. Great camping spots on the way with beautiful alpine meadows. I did this one with both a dad/girls and dad/boys trip and they all loved it. There is a camping spot closer to the Wildernest trailhead near a waterfall that has a large rock outcropping that you can lay upon and have a magnificent view of the stars!!!
