    Default WTH When did....

So I went and added a few Ruger 10/22's to my collection today. I have always been a fan of the 22lr for plinking and now with the rising cost of ammo I figured after a few mods I can train with it and function 95% like a M1A and one or two outings they will be paid for.

Anyways when did Ruger go to polymer receivers?

    I might start shooting 3 gun with a 22lr....

Since when is the receiver polymer? We talked about the change to plastic trigger groups and barrel bands months ago.

Grooved trigger is a give-away that it has the plastic parts.

As of yesterday the one I picked up is polymer. The trigger group and barrel band are also polymer. I havent looked at a new 10/22 in several years I have one from the 80's still too, so I wasnt sure when this switch was made.

They're really not polymer. It's just a new crinkle-coat paint.

you guys who think they are polymer need to take a course on materials. It is the paint. They don't blue them any more, they put on a coating of what is a lot like rubberized undercoating.
If you scratch into it, there is metal underneath. I have one, I emailed ruger about it, they confirmed its metal. after being shot 1000 rounds, there is some metal showing.
Ruger told me it helps protect the outside finish better and will last longer over time.
If you are that worried about it, buy a stainless one.

Aren't the "stainless" versions really just bare aluminum receivers?

I have a K10/22-T and I always thought the receiver was aluminum.
