    Default First build complete finally

Took 4 months to get everything but took it out yesterday and finally got to put a few rounds down range.

    DPMS Barrel
    Anderson mfg A3 upper
    New Frontier lower
    Windham weaponry BCG
Magpul FDE furniture and flip up sight
    UTG quad rail
    BCM Gunfighter charging handle
    YHM phantom comp/brake

I have a about $800 in the build and I started just before Xmas. I refused to pay any inflated prices, and that patience saved me a a bunch of money.

Let me know how you like the plastic lower. I have been thinking of picking one up for a light weight build.

For the benefit of others, any tips from the build to share? Tools, tricks, tips? Was it a complete NFA lower or did you build it yourself? Along those lines, how was the trigger?

It was a complete lower. I have a stripped lower still on order that I will do my first build with.... Eventually. The upper was the only thing I had to assemble. So I guess it was not a complete build.

The polymer lower is a lot lighter than my buddies bushmaster. However, the upper is heavier so I didn't necessarily build a lighter rifle but it is what it is.

Sorry, can't really offer any tips or tricks. Be patient and take your time. It doesn't take a genius to put these together.

No worries, just thought you might have tips from the recent experience. I too have a complete NFA lower that put the smaller blowback hammer into for a dedicated 22. No complaints there. Now the stripped NFA lower I used with a PSA build kit, that was another story. Had to do quite a bit of work with the Dremel on the lower to get the parts in. But you're right, patience is key.

    Congrats on the build!
