Got home from my unsuccessful elk hunt and started my other truck up. Sounded like a damn baja truck. Shut it off real fast not really sure what happened. Turned it over again same thing. Get out and look under the truck. No damn catalatic converter! Someone used a pipe cutter by looks of the cut. No noise, but must have been willing to lay in the dark under the truck for a while. Not going to be cheep to replace and when I do what's to stop them from doing it again?

The only thing I can tell you is this and no it can not stop them but it will save you some money. Go to a muffler shop and have an aftermarket cat installed. They will weld in a universal cat for much less than it would cost you to replace the stock one.

What I would like to know is WTF would anybody do that for there is no money in used cats?? I guess crack/meth or what ever the hell they are on makes them think different.

What year is the truck? If its old enough you really dont need it...

cats go on ebay for upwards of $200.00 there is platnum in them and they pull it out somehow? I'm glad I live in an unoccupied part of the state, and we dont have emissions down here, my truck has a 5" stainless turbo back exhaust on her, after removing all the emissions crap I gaind over 5 miles to the gallon.

It came out of a 98 Tacoma that was starting to stink like rotten eggs. I guess this was the only way to get me to change it. Only now I have no core to exchange.

Maybe some well placed razor blades under there?
