    Default Sling (weapon)

Anyone ever used a rock sling before? I made one last night, just to do it, but the size is off.

I made this one, and it was actually kind of a pain the neck, but I was proud after I had finished it. I'm going to make another one tonight that I can use with tennis balls to learn on. The site www.slinging.org seems pretty helpful.

ETA: The world record distance for launching a projectile with a sling is 477.10 METERS, using a 50" sling and a 2.2 oz dart. Record was set by a guy named David. Heh.

The world record for launching a stone is 437.10 meters.

In my younger years ya. Good call on The tennis ball for practice I may or may not have had to buy a window

Since you've used one, how comfortable were you using one at shorter distances? With practice, would you feel confident that you could hit some target in a back yard without having to worry about every window for 100 yards? I don't actually plan on using one in my backyard, but was curious about the close range limits they have.

Made and used them when I was younger. Got to be pretty accurate with a little practice.

I tried hunting birds with it but they would take off as I wound up. I stuck with wrist rockets

Were you that good of a shot to kill birds?

Seems like slings would be great for alternative kinds of projectiles that are larger than wrist rocket ammo.

We used them to launch rocks over 3-story buildings from behind fences, etc.
Does a good job of scattering ducks in a pond too.
