    Default When did Walmart start..

When did Walmart start asking wether you are buying ammo for a rifle or handgun??? And this was after I showed her my ID so it wasnt to see if I was old enough... Anyone else get asked this when they clearly look over 30 or after they have already showed thier ID..

I swear employees freak out at the mention of ammo... Like they are terrified to sell it.. I understand if the buyer looks like he is bat shit crazy.. Or a gang banger type guy with his friends with dread locks looking like they were going to go smoke after they buy the ammo but for someone going in saying they are looking for some 22lr I think you can relax a little bit and not look at me like I'm a criminal because I want the 3 box limit..question and mini rant over

I've never been asked. But at the same time, if they're asking me that and I've got a box of .223, I would be questioning whether they should be working in the sporting goods section. At the front cash register, not so much, but you're right, why in the world would they care? Maybe they were trying to make small talk because of nervousness?

Been that way for a while for certain calibers. 45 for example, their computer says it can go in a handgun or a rifle. Gotta be 18 for rifle, 21 for handgun.

Of course a portion of their employees are gun illiterate enough to ask for ID before the computer, then the computer prompts them to put that in so it can verify age.

Since as long as I can remember, for calibers that can be used for both.

You don't think someone might tell the clerk that they were buying it for a rifle and then put in a pistol, would they?

They've asked me before. You know...back when they had ammo.

The cash register prompts the question. If someone not familiar with the age requirements for ammo was helping you, they just followed the age question prompts from the register. Seriously, of all things to get your panties in a twist about, this falls somewhere around the CO weatherman being wrong in his forecast area.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
