I just got back from the Army recruiter's office and i picked my Job 12B (combat engineer)! I ship to Basic on September 9th. i am super excited! i can't wait to go to basic and where ever the Army will take me! I just had to tell someone Haha! If there are any current or former combat engineers out there i would love to see what you thought of it just out of curiosity. Thanks for looking i'm sure most don't care but i just had to tell someone just excited!

Congrats! I'm an old 25U so I can't say much about 12B, but I can say best of luck, have fun, suck it up, and don't mess up.

its not always the red wire.
    get used to the suck
if it doesn't suck, your are in the wrong place
no mission performed by the engineers ever made sense (Dig hole, inspect, nice hole, fill it in)
remember, infantry leads the way!(after the engineers clear it)
do NOT expect to be anywhere except the field, all of the time... while with 94th Engineers I Spent 355 days out of 365 in the field one year, Top complained the CSM was getting soft
Remember, enjoy the suck. become one with it... let the suck flow through you.
DO NOT become part of a bridging element... God gave you 10 fingers, you need all 10
Going airborne is a sure way o make sure you NEVER EVER EVER leave fort Bragg. Buy a house, raise a family, you aren't leaving unless you re-up for someplace else. then you will be back

Fort Lostinthewoods has more rocks than woods, get over it.

    Welcome to the Engineer Corps

HAHAHA! I know exactly what tree you're talking about! He's not lying, it's a doozy!
Good luck, and hopefully you got it in your contract NOT to go to Drum... anywhere but Drum and you'll have a good experience! Congrats!
ETA: Byte hit the nail on the head- except I wasn't an engineer, didn't work with 'em, and only knew two of them (one was EOD, said aside from being blown up 4x in two deployments, it was the most fun he's ever had!), and that's pretty much everything they explained how it was.

Good luck on this next step in your life.

Remember that hundreds of thousands of people have proceeded you in this calling. When you are tempted to give in, slack off, or quit, remind yourself that you are at least as good as the worst of the multitude who have gone before. Never quit. Give it your best. Learn to live with the knowledge that you have done all that you can and try never to regret anything.

    Be safe.

They make sure there's a tree outside the door of every gas chamber. Ft. Knox, Ft. Hood, Ft. Bliss, Ft. Polk, even had one on Camp Casey in Korea.

    Can't help you with 12B, I was 63N and 19K.
