Does anyone find the lack of OPSEC with this investigation to be a little disturbing. It seems that many persons involved in the investigation are leaking something to the media. Just from the typical investigations I was ever involved in it was almost always preferable to remain fairly tight-lipped about the status of the investigation. Unless, of course, releasing certain information was thought to be advantageous to the investigation.

I wanna know what's going on and who did it as much as the next guy. But it seems like there are a lot of things getting out that shouldn't be. Maybe I don't have a clue what I'm talking about.

It'd be nice to see them all reporting facts, not threadbare extrapolations.

BREAKING NEWS: The as yet unidentified suspect who was previously reported as having been arrested has not, in fact, been arrested and his or her identity is still unknown. As soon as we have a definitive identification of the unknown person who hasn't been arrested we'll release the identifying information of the as yet unknown person whom we know nothing about. We'll update the story when the previously unknown and arrested, now unarrested and unidentified person, is actually arrested and identified. These are the only definitive facts we know for sure regarding this investigation up to this point. More speculation will be released and disseminated as this story develops.

The more people involved in an investigation the greater the number of leaks. With the size of this investigation it does not surprise me the number of leaks that have been reported.

Those facts never seem to get in the way of a good story being made up.

To bad we can't make them all go on-air and repeat "I will not report information that has not been verified. I will not report information that has not been verified...." continuously for 24 hours. No commercials. No regular programming. Just every show host saying the same thing. Again, and again and again.
