Hmm maybe to make sure that you don't wind up on camera looking like a fool, inquire into their beliefs, including whether they support the 2nd amendment, the NRA then a list of politically correct causes such as gay rights. Compel them to joint the NRA.

Gay rights and gun ownership are not mutually exclusive. I somewhat doubt my gay friends like there being an NRA sticker on my car but I'm a good bit past caring what others think of me - a tangible benefit of aging.
