OK, so it happened. Now get involved. Write, call, fax and email your "elected" official weekly. Have a form letter ready that does not berate them or the party, just state your objections to an AWB and ammo tax. In our District we lost an unwavering supporter of the 2nd to an unknown Democrat. You can believe I will be all over her about this as well as Mark Udall and Barack Obama. It is truely a sad day for the Republic, but it is not over unless we do nothing.

+1 on contacting elected officials early and often. You must live in the 4th, since I'm in the only other district with a new Democrat and we all know Jared Polis perfectly well.

Question: HOW the HELL did Perlmutter keep his seat by a 20-point margin in the district that elected Beauprez in 2002????

And what's REALLY important now: we need to retake the legislature in 2010. The 2010 assembly gets to re-draw the district maps.

Polis is one of the four ultra-rich Colorado leftards (along with Tim Gill, Pat Stryker, and Rutt Bridges) who fling large amounts of money at various leftist causes. Polis' pet issue has usually been opposition to school choice and educational accountability in the past.

One of his campaign flyers mention supporting what IIRC was to have essentially been a Federal takeover of education.

He bought himself the 2nd district seat on the State Board of Education a few years ago, and apparently bought himself the Dem nomination from the same district.
