Default Anyone here shooting in / have aything to do with the Armed Forces Memorial Match at CRC on May 2-5

Regional NRA High Power and Armed forces "Remember the Brave" Memorial Match

I am probably going to shoot the match up through the 600 yard portion. Just curious if anyone here is shooting in it or has anything to do with it. I am trying to talk myself into the 1000 yard portion but it appears that part is done in teams and I have never shot 1000 yards.

On a side note on the registration/ entrance form it ask ( service rifle / match rifle / tactical rifle) would the Knights Armament SR-25EMC be considered service or tactical for the purposes of the match?

Match information and entrance forum here:

I'd be interested in this match if A) I can get the time off work (doubt it) and B) someone explained the rules. I'd be shooting an M1A service grade (I think it'd be service, as it's definitely not a match rifle).

This will be my third year shooting the match. I enjoy the match and really enjoyer meeting the family's.

The match runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I typically shoot only Friday for the XTC match and play with the kids on the weekend.

the Sr-25 will fit in the tac classification as it is not the 20in iron sighted sr-25. Just drop a 1-4 on it and have fun, it will play out to 1000.( be sure to bring a sling,gi web loop sling works fine)

if this is your first time just bring out a mat, pad and pen, spotting scope if you have it, ammo and a chair to sit-in when scoring. Let the match directed know you are new and need assist, they will pair you with someone willing to help.

if you are going and need anything let me know, I'll be happy to assist.

I shoot the Garand Matches and Sporting Clays out there all the time, I want to shoot it with iron sights (no optics). The only thing I do not have is a spotting scope but as I understand it there will be score keepers / spotters behind the line. Is that not correct?

I'll be the guy with the Khaki Unlimited Rubicon Jeep.

Have you shot the 1000 yard day? As I read it they pair you up in teams.

I sent a PM response but for everyone's benefit, yes there are people marking in the pits and score keepers to record the results. You want the scope at 300 and past to see mirage and your spotters to make wind-age adjustments.

You will want to borrow a scope from someone in the pits to use when you shoot, should not be a problem and do let the match director know so they can hook you up.

I do not think you will see teams, just pairings at 1000.

This turtle walked directly though a targets impact zone during a string of rapid fire and had rounds impacting within inches of him. I dont know what to say about the ground hog.
